Cleaning your used car tips
If you walk down any street within the United Kingdom on a hot day, you are
bound to come across people engaged in the familiar act of cleaning their
used cars. If you look closely, you will notice that the vast majority of
these people are making a fundamental mistake when doing so, that is
actually serving to harm the exterior of their car – negating all the hard
work and damaging their vehicle for the future.
So what is this crucial mistake that so many people throughout the country
are unwittingly making? Wiping their cars over with a sponge. It may sound
pendantic, however, repeatedly wiping your vehicle over with a sponge could
very well scratch the exterior paintwork, ultimately leading to a car that
needs to be resprayed. This is due to the fact that small bits of dirt and
loose grit that are picked up by a sponge and trapped within the surface of
it. This leads to the sponge becoming more like sandpaper than something
that you would want to repeatedly run over the exterior of your prize
possession.
In order to avoid scratching the vehicle's exterior, you should always rinse
it before scrubbing it with anything. Ideally this should be done with a
high-pressure hose, however, if there is not one to hand, a regular garden
hose will do the trick (though the jet stream needs to be moderately
powerful in order to remove the loose bits of grit and dirt that could end
up scratching the car).
Once the vehicle has been sprayed, many people who truly value the longevity
of their car's appearance choose to use microfibre cleaning cloths. These
have ultra fine fibres, which feature less than one denier per filament and
they are better at picking up fine dust, grim and grease than a regular
sponge.
